I've been told that a bow is considered a weapon. And that Felons are prohibited from owning them becuase of this fact. Is this the truth or is someone feeding me a bunch of bull?
Lets get this question straight. Felons can and do own weapons. You have the right to apply to the ATF as a felon to get your right to own weapons. You have to apply and they send you a nice large packet of paper work to fill out and send back and a board reviews the request and makes a determination on whether a permit will be issued to the applicant. All felonies are not violent and some rights are restored when the felon is done with his or her whole sentence jail time and probation. If you feel that you have a good case then file for relief. mr doodles
These bows are used to make a top knot on long haired dogs. I make them by hand. You can order the same style or I hand embroider your dog's monogram initials. http://royalribbons.com
The handgun would be in use for for safety reasons and humane reasons. Not intended for hunting.
I guess I should have said during bow season in Texas.
That's not a bad question at all. It comes up fairly often in the shop here, too.
NC, my state, says you can carry a pistol legally as long as you're hunting LEGALLY with another firearm. In other words, if I'm deer hunting with a .30-30, I can carry a handgun to "dispatch wounded game." If I'm bowhunting or muzzleloader deer hunting etc, I can't. Handguns are expressly forbidden during primitive weapons seasons. If I were to get caught with a handgun during those seasons, it's the same as outright poaching.
Most states also have laws on allowable handgun calibers. NC, my state again, allows me to hunt with anything .24 and above. Carrying a .22 to put animals out of their misery is a no-no.
